When it comes to property investing and many other things in life, you may have overlooked the need to understand your mindset. Have you ever wondered why a group of people can go on the same training course and only a handful of people actually achieve anything? Why do some people succeed and others fail? Maybe you believe that knowledge is power, I disagree, if you don't use that knowledge then whats the point in learning it in the first place? Applied knowledge is power!
So what stops us from achieving our full potential even when we do have the knowledge? An inability to Implement or simply putting it into practice. Its our mindset or lack of it. Mindset really is collective term that encompasses our thinking, feelings, our beliefs, our values and our capabilities not to mention our levels of motivation.
With property investors they typically fall into two mindset types, The Entrepreneur and the Academic.
The academic needs to know everything before they take action. This is because we as people have been conditioned to have to know everything in order to succeed in passing exams and gaining qualifications. This is a habit and many people feel that they need to know the next big thing or go on another course before the think that they are ready. Academics can be very risk adverse and like to have certainty.

The Entrepreneur makes calculated decisions even with limited knowledge and takes action. They are also not afraid of failing are are open to taking calculated risks. The entrepreneur likes to have variety and options in their life. They are also intuitive and have a strong positive attitude. They have the willingness to try new things and fail. They use their imagination to solve problems with new ways of thinking!
So what is the biggest mindset challenge people face? Getting out of your comfort zone. Anytime we learn or do something new or unknown to us it takes us out of our comfort zone. There are four key stages of learning and the first two stages take us out of our comfort zone. The first stage is unconscious incompetence, in other words you dont know what you dont know. The second stage is conscious incompetence or in other words you know that you dont know.
So what does this all mean? Well in a nutshell anytime we learn something new it takes us out of our comfort zone emotionally. At best we feel mildly uncomfortable at worst we can feel a sense of panic. Understanding this process makes it easier to get through and makes learning new skills and progressing much quicker and easier. The Key here is to just step out of your comfort zone and over time you will get used to it and your comfort zone naturally begins to expand. Just stepping out of your comfort zone is called being in the learning zone, this is theblue lined area in the picture. This is where you
